to the website of the Friends of Boyden Observatory
The
Friends of Boyden is a public interest
group which fosters a wider appreciation of the astronomical activities
of Boyden Observatory(City
of Bloemfontein, South Africa) and who promote public interest
in its affairs. The Friends contributed major efforts to ensure
that the Observatory survived some turbulent years. Boyden is one of South Africa's primary astronomical research centres and also operates a unique science communication program for the public and schools.
